The Bosch dishwasher codes you can fix yourself are E22 (blocked filter), E24 and E25 (blocked drain or loose pump cover), E16/E17/E18 (water filling problems from a kinked hose or low supply) and E12 (limescale); E15 means water is in the base and needs the water turned off and service. Most heater, relay and control-board codes start with a 30-second breaker reset and, if they return, need Bosch support.

Bosch’s meanings can differ slightly between older and newer dishwasher generations, so if your manual disagrees on a code, follow the manual.
Filter and drain codes: E22, E24, E25
- Switch the dishwasher off and remove the lower rack
The filter sits in the floor of the tub.
- Clean the filter
Twist it out, rinse it, and brush it gently with a soft brush and mild soap. See how to clean a dishwasher filter and Bosch E22 explained.
- Check the drain hose and disposal connection
A kinked hose, or a garbage disposal knockout plug that was never removed, blocks drainage. See Bosch E24 and dishwasher won’t drain.
Fill and flow codes: E14, E16, E17, E18
For E16, E17 and E18 Bosch’s advice is to check the inlet hose for kinks or damage and confirm the water supply is running at a normal flow rate. Make sure the supply valve under the sink is fully open. E14 (flow meter or fill problem) is a support call.
E15: Water in the base
E15 means Bosch’s safety system has detected water in the base pan. Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher and call Bosch support. Do not keep running cycles. Our Bosch E15 guide and dishwasher leaking from the bottom explain the likely sources.
Heat pump, heater and limescale codes
E12 and E2060 mean limescale in the heat pump; Bosch’s fix is descaler and dishwasher softening salt (check the salt reservoir if your model has one). E09, E20, E04 and the longer heater codes are electrical faults. See Bosch E09 for what a heater fault looks like in use.
Relay, sensor and board codes
E01, E02, E03, E05, E06, E07, E10 and E19 point to circuits and components on the main control board, and Bosch’s instruction for most of them is to reset power at the breaker for 30 seconds. If the code returns, it needs Bosch support.
The longer E-codes
Newer Bosch models show four-digit E-codes (such as E6103 or E3100). Bosch lists them with the same meanings as the shorter codes, so use the table above. The code on the display is usually the long form on a recent model.
How to reset a Bosch dishwasher
Switch off the dishwasher’s breaker for 30 seconds and switch it back on, then start a short cycle. If the dishwasher will not start at all, see dishwasher will not start.
When to call Bosch support
Codes for water in the base, the flow meter, relays, heaters, the zeolite system and the control board need a technician. Weigh the quote against replacement with the dishwasher repair cost guide.
