Frigidaire ovens and ranges use F-prefixed codes for safety shutdowns and sensor faults. F10 means a thermal runaway — the oven is detecting higher temperatures than it should, or heating longer than expected. F30 means the temperature sensor circuit itself has gone open. F90 points to a door lock issue with the lock motor switches.
A thermal runaway code means the control believes the oven is overheating or not responding correctly to its own temperature feedback. Turn the oven off and let it cool before using it again — do not attempt to override the code or keep restarting a bake cycle.
F10 — thermal runaway
F10 fires when the oven senses temperatures rising too high, running too long, or not tracking properly with the temperature sensor’s feedback. It most often points to a failed oven sensor reading incorrectly low (which tricks the control into heating longer than it should) or a stuck relay on the control board keeping the element or igniter powered when it should have cycled off.
F30 — open temperature sensor
This means the oven’s temperature sensor (RTD probe) circuit has gone open — a broken connection rather than an inaccurate reading. Without a working sensor, the oven has no reliable way to regulate temperature and will not run a normal bake cycle.
F90 — door lock issue
F90 (and the related F91–F94 codes) indicate the door lock motor switches are not in the position the control board expects — often relevant around self-clean cycles, which require the door to lock for safety.
What you can check
- Let the oven cool, then power cycle
Turn off power at the breaker for a few minutes before restoring it — this clears some transient faults, though not a genuinely broken sensor or stuck relay.
- For F90, check the door
Confirm the door closes fully and nothing is obstructing the latch area before assuming the lock motor itself has failed.
- Do not repeat self-clean if F90 appeared during one

When to call a technician
All three codes point to genuine safety-relevant faults rather than nuisance resets. Have a technician test the oven sensor for F30, inspect the control board and element circuit for F10, and check the door lock motor and switches for F90 if the issue persists after a single power cycle.
Stop and call a qualified appliance technician or electrician if you find scorched or melted wiring, smell burning, see water that has reached electrical components, or if the fault returns immediately after a repair. Never bypass a safety device — thermal fuses, door interlocks and flood switches fail for a reason, and defeating one converts a broken appliance into a fire or flood risk.
