dC means the washer cannot confirm the door is properly closed and locked. On most current Samsung models it is a door-detection fault rather than a balance issue — something is stopping the latch engaging, most often laundry caught at the seal.
What dC means
Samsung washers will not run a cycle unless the door lock sensor confirms the door is fully closed. dC is that check failing — the machine has tried to lock and either the latch has not engaged, or it has engaged but the sensor is not reporting it correctly.

How to fix it
- Clear the door and seal

Push the centre of the door until it clicks. A door that looks shut but was closed gently often has not actually latched.
- Reduce an overloaded drum
If the load is bulging against the door glass, remove a few items so the door can close without pressure holding it open.
- Power cycle the machine
Unplug it for about a minute, plug it back in, and try closing the door and starting a cycle again.
- Inspect the strike and hinge
With the machine unplugged, check the door still sits square in its opening and the latch aligns with the strike plate. A door that has dropped slightly on its hinges will not lock reliably.

If the door is clear, closes firmly and still will not lock, the door lock assembly, its wiring or the control board has likely failed and needs professional diagnosis.
