Electrolux Refrigerator Error Codes Explained

Quick answer

Electrolux refrigerators show a short, documented set of codes, and two of them are not faults: SB or SB SB means Sabbath Mode is on, and 77 77 means Demo Mode. DI SP means ice is jammed in the chute, PF means a power outage or surge occurred, and a blinking HI means the temperature has been too high in the refrigerator or freezer for over an hour.

The documented code list

Code / alarm What Electrolux’s official guide says
SB or SB SB Sabbath Mode — makes the appliance function with minimum power to conform with religious guidelines
77 77 Demo Mode — for store display units, without the functional components running
DI SP (or DISP) Ice is jammed in the chute; an alarm sounds when a cube is stuck too long
PF A power outage or power surge occurred; can also cause a high-temperature alarm
H or HI (blinking) The refrigerator or freezer has been too warm for over one hour
Door Ajar A door has been left open for over 5 minutes
Beeping with the display lit May indicate a power failure or error — try a hard reset

SB: Sabbath Mode

Sabbath Mode is a normal feature, not a fault. Electrolux notes it is switched on and off by pressing and holding the “−” and “Temp F-C” buttons together for five seconds. If the display shows SB and the fridge seems to be behaving oddly, this is the first thing to turn off.

77 77: Demo Mode

This is a retail display mode. To clear it, unplug the refrigerator for 5 minutes and plug it back in, which disables Demo Mode.

DI SP: Ice jam

Clear the jammed cubes from the chute and the alarm should stop. See our ice dispenser troubleshooting guide if jams keep recurring.

PF: Power failure

PF is a record that power was interrupted, not an active fault. Check stored food if the outage was long, and note that PF can come with a high-temperature alarm after the unit warms.

H / HI: High temperature

A blinking HI usually follows a door left open

Electrolux notes HI is usually activated when a door is left open too long. Close the doors, give the fridge time to recover, and check the door seals if it recurs — see our door seal guide and temperature setting guide.

Door ajar and beeping

Door Ajar sounds when a door has been open more than 5 minutes; closing the door should stop it. If the unit beeps with the display lit and no door is open, Electrolux suggests a hard reset by unplugging it for 2 to 3 minutes. For repeated door alarms, see our door alarm guide.

When to call for service

If HI keeps returning with the doors closed and sealing, or the beeping continues after a hard reset, see our refrigerator troubleshooting guide and contact Electrolux service.
